Shaquille O’Neal is a retired NBA center who played from 1992-2011 for the Orlando Magic (1992-1996), Los Angeles Lakers (1996-2004) Miami Heat (2004-2008), Phoenix Suns (2008-2009), Cleveland Cavaliers (2009-2010) and Boston Celtics (2010-2011). Considered one of the most dominant players in league history, O’Neal won four NBA championships, including three consecutive titles with the Los Angeles Lakers from 2000-2002, where he earned NBA Finals MVP honors in each series (the other title was with the Miami Heat). He was elected to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2016.

O’Neal racked up an extensive list of accolades during his 19-year career. He was the NBA Rookie of the Year in 1992 and NBA MVP in 2000 when he led the league in total scoring. A 15-time All-Star, O’Neal earned eight first-team All-NBA honors and was the MVP of the annual All-Star Game three times in 2000, 2004 and 2009. O’Neal led the NBA in field goal percentage 11 times and retired with a 23.7 points and 10.9 rebounds per game average. He also won a gold medal in the basketball team competition of the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta.

O’Neal played college basketball at LSU from 1989-1992. He was a two-time All-American and also twice received SEC Player of the Year honors. In 1991, O’Neil was awarded the Adolph Rupp Trophy as the top men’s player in Division I college basketball. Off the court, O’Neal has enjoyed a successful broadcast career working as a NBA analyst for TNT and is a popular pitchman, working with such companies as Pepsi, Gold Bond, Icy Hot, Papa John’s and The General. Over the years, he’s appeared in numerous television shows and movies, participated in professional wrestling events and released a number of rap albums. At the end of 2016, O’Neal was sworn-in and became a sheriff’s deputy in Jonesboro, Georgia.
