Widely considered to be the greatest wide receiver ever to play football, Jerry Rice spent 20 seasons in the NFL from 1985-2004 for the San Francisco 49ers (1985-2000), Oakland Raiders (2001-2004) and Seattle Seahawks (2004). Rice enjoyed most of his success with the 49ers after being picked by the team in the 1985 NFL Draft (1st round), where he spent 16 years rewriting the record books and catching passes from future Hall of Fame quarterbacks Joe Montana and Steve Young. Rice played an integral role in the success of the 49ers, winning three Super Bowls (XXIII, XXIV and XXIX) and being named MVP of Super Bowl XXIII. The 13-time Pro Bowler and 10-time First-Team All-Pro was twice named the NFL Offensive Player of the Year in 1987 and 1993 and led the NFL in touchdown catches and yards receiving six times each and in receptions twice. Rice was a dominant force during his time in the league, evidenced by him setting over 100 NFL recording, including…

He was named to both the NFL 75th and 100th Anniversary All-Time Teams and was a First-Team NFL 1980’s and 1990’s All-Decade pick. Rice was also named by the NFL Network as the top player in league history when it released its “The Top 100: NFL’s Greatest Players list. The 49ers retired Rice’s jersey #80 in 2010 and he was into in the 49ers Hall of Fame and Pro Football Hall of Fame the same year. Born on October 13, 1962 in Starkville, Mississippi, Rice played collegiately at Mississippi Valley State from 1981-1984, where he was twice named First-Team I-AA All-American. In 1983, Rice set NCAA I-AA records for most receiving yards and catches, marks he broke the next season. He became a member in 2006 of the College Football Hall of Fame and in 2010 of the Black College Football Hall of Fame.
