Steve Spurrier Booking Agent Details

Steve Spurrier enjoyed great success in football, most recently as a coach but originally as a player. After working as an assistant coach at the University of Florida, Georgia Tech and Duke, Spurrier served as head coach at Duke (1987-1989), Florida (1990-2001) the NFL’s Washington Redskins (2002-2003) and the University of South Carolina (2005-2015). While at Duke, Spurrier was twice named ACC Coach of the Year in 1988 and 1989 and led the Blue Devils to an ACC title the latter year. He continued his success at Florida, where he led the Gators to six SEC championships, 7 SEC Eastern Division titles and an NCAA championship in 1996, the school’s first. He was named SEC Coach of the Year six times – five while with the Gators and one while at South Carolina in 2010 after the Gamecocks won the SEC Eastern Division. He retired as the winningest football coach in the history of the South Carolina and Florida programs.

Born on April 20, 1945 in Miami Beach, Florida, Spurrier attended the University of Florida, where he was twice named first-team All-American. In 1966, Spurrier was honored as the UPI Player of the year, SEC Player of the Year and won the Heisman Trophy as the best player in college football. In 2006, Spurrier was named the second-best player of the first century of the University of Florida football program by The Gainesville Sun. Spurrier was picked by the San Francisco 49ers in the 1967 draft (1st round, 3rd pick overall) and went on to play 10 seasons for the 49ers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He became a member of the College Football Hall of Fame as a player in 1986 (and as a coach in 2017) and was honored in 2016 when Florida renamed its football field Steve Spurrier-Florida Field at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. Also in 2016, then-South Carolina governor Nikki Haley bestowed on Spurrier the highest state honor by inducting him into the Order of the Palmetto.
