Ed Orgeron is the current head football coach at LSU and led the Tigers to a perfect 15-0 record in route to winning the 2019 College Football Playoff national title with a 42-25 win over Clemson. For his efforts, Orgeron received a host of honors, including being named the 2019 AP Coach of the Year, Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year, Home Depot Coach of the Year and SEC Coach of the Year. Orgeron was named head coach of LSU in 2016 after serving as the Tigers’ defensive line coach.

Orgeron began his coaching career in 1984 when he worked at Northwestern State as a graduate assistant. He held a similar position at McNeese State in 1985 and served as an assistant strength coach at Arkansas in 1986-1987 before he was named defensive line coach for the Miami Hurricanes in 1988, where he coached through 1992. In 1994, Orgeron joined the staff at Nicholls State before landing as the defensive line coach at Syracuse from 1995-97. In 1998, Ogeron was hired by USC, where through 2004 he coached the defensive line, served as recruiting coordinator and was assistant head coach to Pete Carroll. In that time, the Trojans were crowned national champions twice.

Ogeron’s first head coaching job came with the Ole Miss Rebels, which he led from 2005-2007 before transitioning to the NFL as a coach with New Orleans in 2008. After a stint as associate head coach at Tennessee in 2009, he returned to USC, where he directed the Trojans’ recruiting once more through 2013 before eventually joining the staff at LSU. Orgeron was born on July 27, 1961 in Larose, Louisiana. He attended South Lafourche High School and Northwestern State.
