Jim Harbaugh is the current head coach of the Michigan Wolverines football program, a position he’s held since 2015. He previously spent time as head coach in both the NFL and college ranks with the San Francisco 49ers (2011-2014), Stanford (2007-2010) and the University of San Diego (2004-2006).  Prior to taking over at Michigan, his alma mater, Harbaugh had a highly successful tenure in the NFL with the 49ers, leading the team to an overall 44-19 record during his four years as head coach. In his first season, San Francisco advanced to the NFC Championship game in route to his being named NFL Coach of the Year. In the 2012 season, Harbaugh guided the 49ers to a berth in Super Bowl XLVII, where they were defeated by Baltimore (and Jim’s brother John Harbaugh, head coach of the Ravens). Harbaugh once more took the 49ers to the NFC Championship game in 2013.

Before moving to the NFL, Harbaugh enjoyed a solid season as Stanford’s head coach in 2010, guiding the team to a 12-1 overall record, # 4 ranking in the country and a victory in the Orange Bowl over Virginia Tech. In 2005 and 2006, Harbaugh led San Diego to back-to-back 11-1 campaigns. As a player, Harbaugh competed in the NFL as a quarterback from 1987-2001 with the Chicago Bears (1987-1993), Indianapolis Colts (1994-1997), Baltimore Ravens (1998), San Diego Chargers (1999-2000) and Carolina Panthers (2001). He was named to the Pro Bowl and won both AFC Offensive Player of the Year and NFL Comeback Player of the Year honors in 1995. Collegiately, Harbaugh played at Michigan from 1983-1986. During his senior season, Harbaugh quarterbacked the Wolverines to the Rose Bowl, was named All-Big Ten and finished third in the voting for the Heisman Trophy.
