Henderson became the all-time leader in stolen bases in 1991 when he surpassed Lou Brock with his 939th steal. At the time of his retirement, he also held the all-time records for leadoff home runs (81) and runs scored (2,295). Over the course of his career, Henderson amassed 3,055 hits, 297 homers and a batting average of .279. Henderson won two World Series, the first with Oakland in 1989 and the second with Toronto in 1993. During the 1989 post season, Henderson was named ALCS MVP. He was also named A.L. MVP in 1990 after he hit .325 with 28 home runs, 61 RBI and 65 stolen bases. Born on December 25, 1958 in Chicago, Illinois, Henderson, who was picked by the A’s in the 4th round of the 1976 draft, made his MLB debut with Oakland on June 24, 1979.
