Aaron Boone was hired as the 33rd manager of the New York Yankees in December of 2017. In his first season, Boone led the Yankees to a 100-62 record and a spot in the American League wildcard game, where they defeated the Oakland A’s and advanced to the American League Division Series. Prior to managing, Boone enjoyed a successful playing career from 1997-2009 as a third baseman for the Cincinnati Reds (1997-2003), Yankees (2003), Cleveland Indians (2005-2006), Florida Marlins (2007), Washington Nationals (2008) and Houston Astros (2009). Boone’s walk-off home run in Game 7 of the 2003 American League Championship Series off Boston Red Sox pitcher Tim Wakefield made Boone an instant Yankees legend and is considered one of the greatest moments in MLB postseason history.

After retiring from playing, Boone worked for ESPN as a game analyst and contributor for Baseball Tonight. He is a member of the prominent Boone baseball family along with his father Bob and brother Bret. Boone attended Villa Park High School in California and was named Century League co-Player of the Year. He played college baseball at the University of Southern California. He was drafted by the Reds in the 3rd round of the 1994 MLB Draft and made his major league debut in June of 1997.
