Carlos Correa has played shortstop for the Houston Astros since 2015 and has become of the top players at his position in the majors, winning the American League Rookie of the Year award in 2015 and being named an All-Star in 2017. He also played an integral role in the Astros winning the World Series in 2017.

He was picked 1st overall by the Astros in the 2012 draft and became the highest-drafted player ever to be picked directly out of high school in Puerto Rico and just the third Latino to be picked first overall (Adrian Gonzalez and Alex Rodriguez were the other two). Correa was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico and attended Puerto Rico Baseball Academy and High School. Considered one of the top minor league prospects, Correa honed his skills in the Astros farm system with the Gulf Coast Astros, Greeneville Astros, Quad City River Bandits, Lancaster JetHawks, Corpus Christi Hooks and Fresno Grizzlies before making his Major League Baseball debut on June 8, 2015.

In addition to playing for the Astros, Correa has also played internationally and represented Puerto Rico at the 2017 World Baseball Classic, where he helped the squad to a runner-up finish and was named to the All-World team.
