Matt Rhule was named head coach of the Nebraska Cornhuskers football team in 2023. His 2024 Cornhuskers squad went 7-6 and capped their year with a win in the Pinstripe Bowl. From 2017-2019, he led the Baylor Bears, taking the 2018 team to the Texas Bowl, where they beat Vanderbilt. In 2019, Baylor went 11-3, appearing in the Big 12 title game and Sugar Bowl, finishing the season as the nation’s No. 12 team. For his efforts, Rhule was named both the Big 12 Coach of the Year and Coach of the Year by the Sporting News.

Rhule was also head coach at Temple from 2013-2016, leading the Owls to back-to-back 10-win seasons and bowl appearances in 2015 and 2016. In both years, his teams won American Athletic Conference East Division crowns, while in 2016 Temple won the league outright. From 2020-2022, Rhule was head coach of the NFL’s Carolina Panthers. He also coached as an assistant with the New York Giants (2012), Temple (2006-2011), Western Carolina (2002-2005), UCLA (2001), Buffalo (1999-2000) and Albright (1998). Rhule played linebacker at Penn State from 1994-1997 and began collegiate career under Joe Paterno as a walk-on. He graduated with a BA degree in Political Science and was an Academic All-Big Ten honoree and three-time Penn State Scholar-Athlete.
