Bob Stoops is a retired football coach who most notably led the Oklahoma Sooners from 1999-2016. In 2000, the Sooners finished 13-0 and won the National Championship after defeating Florida State in the Orange Bowl. That year, Stoops won the Walter Camp Coach of the Year Award and Paul “Bear” Bryant Award as well as the Home Depot and Associated Press Coach of the Year awards.

As head coach of Oklahoma, Stoops compiled a 190-48 overall record and is the winningest head coach in Sooners football program history. From 2005-2011, Oklahoma didn’t lose a home game, winning 39 consecutive in Norman. Under his leadership, the Sooners won 10 Big 12 Conference titles while he earned six Big 12 Conference Coach of the Year awards. Stoops again won the Walter Camp Coach of the Year Award in 2003 while being honored that same year with the Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year Award.

Prior to coaching Oklahoma, Stoops was defensive coordinator for the Florida Gators from 1996-1998, helping them win a national title in 1997. Prior to that he was Kansas State’s defensive coordinator from 1991-95. Stoops played college football at Iowa from 1979-82 and was a four-year starter, winning team MVP honors as a senior.
