Jeff Kent is a retired Major League Baseball second baseman who played 17 seasons in the Majors for the Toronto Blue Jays (1992), New York Mets (1992–1996), Cleveland Indians (1996), San Francisco Giants (1997–2002), Houston Astros (2003–2004) and Los Angeles Dodgers (2005–2008). Kent was a five-time All-Star and four-time Silver Slugger Award winner. While with the Giants, Kent won the National League MVP award in 2000 and is the MLB all-time leader among second baseman in home runs. His 560 career doubles ranks him tied for 21st on the all-time list. Between 1997-2005, he drove in 90 or more runs each season. He was inducted into the Giants Wall of Fame in 2009

Kent was born in Bellflower, California and graduated from Edison High School. He played collegiately at UC Berkley before being drafted by the Blue Jays in the 20th round of the 1989 amateur draft. He made his MLB debut on April 12, 1992. Off the field, Kent has been very philanthropic. In 2014, he created the Jeff Kent Women Driven Scholarship Endowment, which provides a full scholarship annually and in perpetuity to one UC Berkley female student-athlete. Kent and his family reside near Austin, Texas.
