A.J. Foyt Booking Agent Details
As one of the most successful race car drivers of all-time, A.J. Foyt enjoyed a lengthy career that encompassed numerous racing styles and spanned over five decades from 1957-1996. He won the Indianapolis 500 race four times in his career (1961, 1964, 1967, 1978), making him one of only three racers to win the event that number of times, and his 67 wins in open-wheel racing (Indy car racing) is the most all-time. He also won NASCAR’s Daytona 500 in 1972 and the International Race of Champions (IROC) series in 1976 and 1977.
Racing as a member of the United States Auto Club (USAC), Foyt was named National Champion in 1960, 1961, 1963, 1964, 1967 and 1975. His 159 career USAC victories are the most by any driver. He also was named USAC Stock Car Champion in 1968, 1978 and 1979 and had notable success in prominent endurance competitions, winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans event in France in 1967 as well as the 12 Hours of Sebring and 24 Hours of Daytona races in 1985.
Foyt received numerous honors and accolades over the course of his career. He is a member of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hall of Fame (1978), National Midget Auto Racing Hall of Fame (1988), Motorsports Hall of Fame America (1989), National Sprint Car Hall of Fame (1990) and International Motorsports Hall of Fame (2000). Foyt was also named as one of NASCAR’s 50 Greatest Drivers and Co-Driver of the Century by the Associated Press. After his racing days ended, Foyt transitioned to a team owner role and founded A.J. Foyt Enterprises, which put together teams that have competed in NASCAR, IRL and CART.
