Ryan Howard played first base for the Philadelphia Phillies from 2004 – 16. As one of the more popular player in recent Phillies history, Howard holds numerous franchise records and played an integral part in the Phillies success in the early 2000’s, including a World Series championship in 2008, the franchises first since 1980. Howard made his MLB debut on September 1, 2004 and was named the 2005 NL Rookie of the Year. Statistically speaking, Howard had his best year in 2006 when he was named NL MVP and won both the Silver Slugger Award and NL Hank Aaron Award. He was a three-time All-Star (2006, 2009 & 2010), a three-time MLB RBI leader (2006, 2008 & 2009) and two-time MLB home run leader (2006 & 2008). He was the fastest player in MLB history to reach the 100 and 200 home run milestones.

Howard was born in St. Louis, MO and attended Lafayette High School. He played collegiately at Missouri State University from 1998 – 2001. He was named the 1999 Missouri Valley Conference Freshman of the year and, in 2010, the school retired Howard’s number. He was drafted by the Phillies in the 5th round of the 2001 MLB draft.
