Mike Matheny is the former manager of the St. Louis Cardinals. He was introduced as manager on November 14, 2011 and, at the time, was the youngest manager in Major League Baseball. In 6+ seasons as manager, Matheny led the team to one National League pennant and three NL Central division titles. Matheny reached his 1,000th game as manager on May 1, 2018. Matheny joined Red Schoendienst, Whitey Herzog, and Tony La Russa as the only managers to lead the Cardinals for at least 1,000 games. During his tenure, he managed St. Louis to a 591-474 record.

Matheny is the only manager to lead a team to the postseason in each of his first four seasons and his .579 winning percentage (375-273) and 43 postseason games were tops in the majors over that four-season span (2012-15). In just his second year in 2013, Matheny took his team to the World Series and became the first manager in Cardinals history to manage the club to the postseason in each of his first two full seasons, and the 8th manager in MLB history to do so. In 2015, Matheny led an injury-plagued Cardinals team to a MLB-best 100 wins, the ninth 100-win season in franchise history.

As a player, Matheny played 13 seasons for the Milwaukee Brewers (1994–1998) Toronto Blue Jays (1999), Cardinals (2000–2004) and San Francisco Giants (2005–2006). He was a four-time Gold Glove Award winner at catcher and at one time held the record for consecutive errorless chances at 1,565.

In 2015, Matheny published a book called "The Matheny Manifesto". He was also very involved in the St. Louis community. He created the Catch-22 charity that donated tickets to Cardinals game, opened a Catch 22 Miracle Field and created the Catch 22 Foundation.

Matheny was born on September 22, 1970 in Reynoldsburg, Ohio and attended the University of Michigan, where he was co-captain of the baseball team. His accolades include...

* Two-Time Baseball America Toolbox Award Winner
* 2015 Missouri Athletic Club Sports Personality of The Year
* Four-Time Rawlings Gold Glove Award Winner
* 2014 All-Star Game NL Manager
* 2005 Willie Mac Award Winner
* 2003 Darryl Kile Good Guy Award
