Clint Hurdle enjoyed a successful 17 years managing in the majors for the Colorado Rockies (2002-2009) and Pittsburgh Pirates (2011-2019). As part of his eight years in Colorado, Hurdle skippered the Rockies in 2007 to a franchise-ever best 90-73 mark, their first National League Pennant and a berth in the World Series against the Boston Red Sox. Starting in 2011 and continuing for nine seasons, Hurdle managed the Pirates, which included a memorable 2013 season that saws the Bucs record their first winning season and appearance in the postseason since 1992. For his efforts, Hurdle was named the NL Manager of the Year. Hurdle got his start in coaching in 1988 when he managed in the New York Mets minor league system. He was then hired by the Rockies in 1994 as a minor league hitting instructor, a position he held until 1997 when he was named the big-league club’s hitting coach.

Prior to his managing duties, Hurdle played outfield in the majors for 10 seasons for the Kansas City Royals (1977-1981), Cincinnati Red (1982), New York Mets (1983, 1985, 1987) and St. Louis Cardinals (1986). He made his debut in the majors for the Royals on September 18, 1977. Hurdle also played in the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League for three seasons during the MLB offseason in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Off the field, Hurdle has been involved with a number of organizations, including the Prader-Willi Syndrome Association in support of his daughter who was born with the disorder.
