Dave Winfield Booking Agent Details

Dave Winfield played outfield in the majors for 22 seasons from 1973-1995 with the San Diego Padres (1973-1980), New York Yankees (1981-1988, 1990), California Angels (1990-1991), Toronto Blue Jays (1992), Minnesota Twins (1993-1994) and Cleveland Indians (1995). From 1977-1988, Winfield was named to 12 straight All-Star Games and, during that time, he captured five Silver Slugger Awards, including five straight from 1981-1985 (plus a sixth in 1992). Winfield was also known for his solid defense as evidenced by the seven Gold Gloves he took home. During his career, he batted .283 with 3,110 hits to go along with 465 RBI. Winfield became a member of the Baseball Hall of Fame during his first year of eligibility in 2001. He was also inducted into the College Baseball Hall of Fame in 2005 and the Padres Hall of Fame in 2000. San Diego retired his jersey #31 the next year.

In 1979 with the Padres, Winfield led the National League with 118 RBI and 333 total bases in a season where he hit .308 and notched 34 home runs. Upon joining the Yankees, Winfield embarked on a six-year streak from 1982-1988 in which he failed to hit more than 24 home runs and knock in 100 batters just once. In 1992, he joined the Blue Jays and hit .290 with 26 homers and 108 RBI in his lone year in Toronto, finishing in fifth place for that year’s A.L. MVP voting and helping the Blue Jays to a World Series title.

Born on October 3, 1951 in Saint Paul, Minnesota, Winfield played both college basketball and baseball nearby at the University of Minnesota. A talented athlete across numerous sports, Winfield was not only selected in the MLB Draft by the Padres but was also drafted by the NBA’s Atlanta Hawks, ABA’s Utah Stars and NFL’s Minnesota Vikings. Winfield is one of three athletes ever to be drafted by four pro sports leagues. Off the field, Winfield in 1977 founded the nonprofit Winfield Foundation. Since retiring, he has worked as a baseball analyst for ESPN and FOX Sports, worked for the Padres as a senior advisor/executive vice president and served as a special assistant to the MLBPA’s executive director.
