Ron Harper is a retired guard who played in the NBA from 1986-2001 for the Cleveland Cavaliers (1986-1989), Los Angeles Clippers (1989-1994), Chicago Bulls (1994-1999) and Los Angeles Lakers (1999-2001). He won a total of five NBA championships in a span of six years - three with the Bulls (1996, 1997, 1998) while playing with future Hall of Famers Michael Jordan, Dennis Rodman and Scottie Pippen and two with the Lakers (2000, 2001) while playing with future Hall of Famers Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal.

Harper was drafted out of Miami University in the first round of the 1986 NBA draft. While at Miami from 1982-1986, he was a three-time All-MAC selection and two-time MAC Player of the Year. Harper is Miami’s all-time leader in numerous categories, including scoring (2,377), rebounding (1,119), games started (118), scoring average (19.8), blocked shots (173) and field goals (969). He was also the first men’s basketball player in MAC conference history to score 2,000 points and record 1,000 rebounds in a career. Harper’s jersey #34 was retired by Miami in 1986.

Harper was born in Dayton, Ohio. He first attended Belmont High School, where he was cut from the freshman team and didn’t play during his sophomore year. He would later transfer to Kiser High School, where as a senior he was named first-team All-Ohio.
