Ray Guy is a former NFL punter who played his entire career from 1973-1986 with the Oakland/Los Angeles Raiders. Guy was a special teams anchor for the dominant Raiders teams of the 1970s and early 1980s. As the team’s punter, he won three Super Bowl rings (XI, XV and XVIII). A 2014 inductee into both the Pro Football Hall of Fame and College Football Hall of Fame, Guy became the first full-time punter to enter Canton.

Guy was named to seven Pro Bowls (1973-1978, 1980) during his career and for six consecutive seasons from 1973-1978, he was additionally named first-team All-Pro. He also received second-team All-Pro honors in 1979 and 1980. A member of the NFL 1970s All-Decade Team, Guy similarly has been named to both the NFL’s 75th and 100th Anniversary teams. In 1975, he won the Golden Toe Award, handed out by Pro Football Weekly.

Guy played college football at Southern Mississippi and, in 1973, was named MVP of the annual Chicago College All-Star Game. That same year, he was selected in the 1st round of the NFL Draft by Oakland, becoming the first strictly punter to be chosen that highly in the draft. In 2000, the Ray Guy Award was created in his namesake to honor college football’s best punter. Since his playing days, Guy has been active in sponsoring kicking camps for high school specialists around the United States.
