Lou Merloni is a former MLB infielder who is best remembered for his time with the Boston Red Sox from 1998-2002 and 2003. Merloni made his debut in the majors with Boston on May 10, 1998. In addition to his time with the Red Sox, Merloni also played for the Yokohama DeNA BayStars of Nippon Professional Baseball in 2000. He later played with the San Diego Padres (2003), Cleveland Indians (2004, 2006), and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (2005).

Since his playing days ended, Merloni has worked in radio and as a baseball commentator in Boston, his hometown. Merloni began working for WEEI in Boston as a radio host in 2008 and shortly thereafter joined the New England Sports Network (NESN). He also worked for Comcast SportsNet New England during the 2009 baseball season. Merloni participated in WEEI broadcasts of the 2013 American League Championship Series and when the Red Sox advanced, the 2013 World Series.

In his youth, Merloni played collegiate summer baseball with the Bourne Braves in 1991 and Cotuit Kettleers in 1992 of the Cape Cod Baseball League. In 2010, he was inducted into the Cape Cod Baseball League Hall of Fame. Merloni was born on April 6, 1971 in Framingham, Massachusetts.
