Jonathan Stewart is a retired NFL running back who played in the league for 11 years from 2008-2018, all but his final year with the Carolina Panthers with whom he holds multiple franchise records. Stewart enjoyed a storied collegiate career at Oregon. In 2006 he rushed for 981 yards and, in 2007, he exploded for 1,722 yards on 280 carries, good for a 6.2 yards per carry average. Stewart was a two-time first-team All-American in 2006 and 2007, first-team All Pac-10 in 2007 and that same year was named Sun Bowl MVP as Oregon defeated South Florida, 56-21, behind his 253 rushing yards.

Selected 13th overall in the 2008 NFL Draft by the Panthers, Stewart played for Carolina through 2017, earning one Pro Bowl selection in 2015. He holds Carolina franchise records for career rushing attempts and yards. Stewart joined the New York Giants in 2018 but appeared in only three games. That same year, he signed a one-day contract with Carolina and retired as a Panther. In his 11-year career, he rushed for 7,335 yards on 1,705 carries, good for a 4.2 yards per rush average. He was also utilized as a wide receiver throughout his career, recording 1,295 yards on 162 catches.
