Golfer John Daly won 18 professional tournaments, including two majors - the 1991 PGA Championship and 1995 Open Championship. A relatable fan-favorite known for his long-driving ability, flamboyant dress and fondness for a cold one, Daly became the first PGA Tour player ever to average over 300 yards per drive when he first accomplished the feat in 1997. He was named the 1991 PGA Tour Rookie of the Year and 2004 PGA Tour Comeback Player of the Year.
Daly turned pro in 1987 and recorded his first victory that same year at the Missouri Open. He continued playing both in the United States and abroad before earning his PGA Tour card on his fourth attempt for the 1991 season. Daly gained entry into the 1991 PGA Championship as the ninth alternate and made the most of the opportunity, winning the tournament by three shots over Bruce Lietzke. In 1995, Daly once again overcame the odds by winning the Open Championship during what had been an average golf season. He won the tournament played at the Old Course at St. Andrews in a playoff over Costantino Rocca.
Daly was born on April 28, 1966 in Carmichael, California and moved frequently during his childhood with stops in Arkansas, Virginia, Louisiana and Missouri. He attended college at the University of Arkansas. Off the course, Daly owns a golf course design company called JD Designs. He has also partnered with a clothing line called Loudmouth Golf and released a couple music albums, In 2007, Daly sang back-up vocals on musician Kid Rock’s song “Half Your Age”. He is the author of the books "Golf My Own Damn Way: A Real Guy's Guide to Chopping Ten Strokes Off Your Score" and "My Life in and out of the Rough: The Truth Behind All That Bull**** You Think You Know About Me".
