Jason Lezak won a total of eight medals in swimming events at the 2000, 2004, 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics. He also recorded five world championships in short-course events along with seven United States championships. Lezak won a gold medal at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney in the 4x100-meter medley relay competition along with silver in the 4x100-meter freestyle event. At the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, he won another pair of medals, a gold in the 4x100-meter medley relay event while earning a bronze in the 4x100-meter freestyle relay.

By the time of the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, Lezak at age 32 was the oldest U.S. swimmer participating. He continued to perform strongly and claimed another two gold medals in the 4x100-meter freestyle relay and 4x100-meter medley relay while winning his first medal, a bronze, in an individual competition, the 100-meter freestyle.
In 2012, he participated in his fourth and final Olympic Games in London, where he won a silver medal, his fourth medal in the 4x100-meter freestyle relay, becoming the first Olympic male ever to capture four medals in one event.

Lezak was born on November 12, 1975 in Irvine, California and attended the University of California, Santa Barbara. A member of the Southern California Jewish Sports Hall of Fame, Lezak competed in the 2009 Maccabiah Games in Israel and received the honor of lighting the torch during the Opening Ceremony. He went on to win four gold medals during the competition. After retiring from competitive swimming, he worked as general manager of the Cali Condors, which competes in the International Swimming League.
