Gary Gaetti is a retired MLB third baseman whose career spanned from 1981-2000 with the Minnesota Twins (1981-1990), California Angels (1991-1993), Kansas City Royals (1993-1995), St. Louis Cardinals (1996-1998), Chicago Cubs (1998-1999) and Boston Red Sox (2000). In 1982, his first full season in the majors, Gaetti hit 25 home runs with 82 RBIs and finished fifth in that year’s Rookie of the Year voting. By the mid-1980s, Gaetti had established himself as a dependable power hitter for the Twins. The 1986 season saw him hit 34 home runs with 108 RBI and a batting average of .287. In the 1987 regular season, Gaetti hit 31 homers along with 109 RBI. In that year's postseason, he went on to earn ALCS MVP honors after hitting two home runs and helping Minnesota earn a berth in the World Series, which the Twins won over the St. Louis Cardinals.

Gaetti was named an All-Star in back-to-back seasons in 1988 and 1989. He additionally was a solid defender, earning four straight Gold Glove awards at third base from 1986-1989. In his third and final season with Kansas City in 1995, Gaetti hit a career-high 35 home runs and knocked in 96 runs, both of which were the best figures he posted since his time with the Twins. He also won his first Silver Slugger award and finished 10th in A.L. MVP voting. Gaetti is a member of the Twins Hall of Fame and after his playing days, coached in the minor leagues for both the Houston Astros and Tampa Bay Rays. From 2012-2017, he also served as manager of the Sugar Land Skeeters of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball.
