One of the greatest receivers in NFL history, Fred Biletnikoff played for the Oakland Raiders from 1965-1978. He was a four-time Pro Bowl selection and led the NFL in catches in 1971. He won an AFL Championship in 1967 (before the AFL-NFL merger) and a Super Bowl title in 1977 when the Raiders beat the Minnesota, Vikings, 32-14. He was named MVP of the title game.

Biletnikoff was a model of consistency - he amassed 40 or more catches for 10 seasons in a row, at the time an NFL record. In total for his career, Biletnikoff caught 589 passes for 8,974 yards (15.2 yards per catch average) and 76 touchdowns through the air. In 1988, Biletnikoff was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Soon after retiring from playing, Biletnikoff went into coaching, including stints with the Montreal Alouettes, Oakland Invaders, Orange Glen High School, Palomar College, Calgary Stampeders and Arizona Wranglers. He closed out his coaching career after working as the wide receivers coach for the Raiders from 1989-2006.

Biletnikoff grew up in Erie, Pennsylvania and played college football at Florida State, where he set school records for career receptions, touchdowns and yards receiving. He was a consensus All-American in 1964 and became a member of the College Football Hall of Fame in 1991. In honor of his accomplishments, the nation’s top receiver in college each year is given the Fred Biletnikoff Award.
