Carlos Delgado is a retired first baseman who played for the Toronto Blue Jays (1993-2004), Florida Marlins (2005) and New York Mets (2006-2009). Delgado won a World Series ring in his first year with Toronto in 1993 and is a member of the Blue Jays Level of Excellence. He was inducted into the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame in 2015. He earned his first Silver Slugger Award in 1999 and, in 2000, won another behind a terrific season in which he played all 162 games, hit .344, tallied 41 homers and knocked-in 137 runs. For his efforts that year he was also named to his first All-Star game, received the American League Hank Aaron Award and came in fourth in MVP voting.

From 1997-2006, Delgado hit at least 30 home runs every year and had no less than 91 RBI. A six-time finisher in the top 15 for MVP voting, in 2003 Delgado was again an All-Star and took home another Silver Slugger Award after batting .302 with 42 homers and 145 RBI. On September 25, 2003, Delgado accomplished the rare feat of hitting four homers in a single game. Off the field, Delgado is known for his charitable activities in Puerto Rico. He was given the Roberto Clemente Award in 2006 for his combination of charitable activities and good sportsmanship.
