Tony Gonzalez is a former professional football player who played tight end in the NFL for the Kansas City Chiefs and Atlanta Falcons for 17 seasons. He is regarded as one of the greatest tight ends to ever play the position as he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2019 and holds the record for the most receiving yards by a tight end with 15,127 yards. Gonzalez is a 14-time Pro Bowler and a six-time first-team All-Pro selection who also is second on the all-time receptions list with 1,325, second only to Jerry Rice. In 200, Gonzalez enjoyed his most productive season as he claimed a league-high 102 receptions and a career-high 1,258 receiving yards. Gonzalez is also well-known for protecting the rock, as he only fumbled the ball six times over his elongated and remarkable career. He was traded to the Falcons in 2009 and made the Pro Bowl in his final four of five seasons while achieving first-team All Pro honors in 2012.

After lettering in both football and basketball at Huntington Beach High School in Huntington Beach, Calif., he went on to play both sports at the University of California-Berkeley. His career at Cal included him becoming an All-Pac-10 and All-American selection as a tight end his junior year, tallying 699 receiving yards on 44 receptions and five touchdowns. That same year, he played 28 games for the basketball team, averaging 6.8 points and 5.4 rebounds per game and helped lead the Golden Bears to the Sweet Sixteen in the NCAA Tournament. He would go on to choose a career in football and declared for the 1997 NFL Draft, where he was selected 13th overall by the Chiefs in a trade with the Tennessee Oilers. After retirement, he went into broadcasting and currently works as a studio analyst for Fox Sports.
