Tim Duncan enjoyed a stellar 19-year career from 1997-2016 with the NBA’s San Antonio Spurs. Considered one of the best power forwards to ever play the game, he was selected in 2020 for induction in the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame. Duncan helped lead the Spurs to five NBA championships in 1999, 2003, 2005, 2007 and 2014 and was named Finals MVP for the first three titles. He was also a two-time NBA MVP in 2002 and 2003, a 15-time All-Star and 10-time All-NBA First Team pick. Known for his defensive prowess, Duncan additionally was named All-NBA Defensive First Team eight times and Second Team seven times. He is the only player in NBA history to be named to the All-Defensive and All-NBA teams for 13 straight seasons.

After being selected by the Spurs in the 1997 NBA Draft with the first overall pick, Duncan quickly established himself as a force with a per game average of 21.1 points and 11.9 rebounds in route to being named to the NBA All-Rookie First Team and earning NBA Rookie of the Year honors. Duncan became the 8th Spurs player to have his jersey retired when he was honored by the team in 2016, joining David Robinson, James Silas, George Gervin, Sean Elliott, Johnny Moore, Bruce Bowen and Avery Johnson. Duncan also competed for the United State in international competition, winning a bronze medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics and gold medals at the 1999 and 2003 FIBA American Championships.

Born on April 25, 1976 in the U.S. Virgin Islands, Duncan played college basketball at Wake Forest, where he was a two-time consensus All-American and two-time ACC Player of the Year. Duncan also won most every national player of the year honor in 1997, including the Adolph Rupp Trophy, John R. Wooden Award and Naismith College Player of the Year. Duncan dominated defensively in college and was also three times named the NABC’s Defensive Player of the Year.  He was named to the ACC’s 50th Anniversary all-time basketball team and had his jersey #21 retired by the school. Off the court, Duncan created the Tim Duncan Foundation to provide funds for programs involving youth sports, education, research and health awareness. After his playing days ended, Duncan worked as an assistant coach for the Spurs in 2019-2020.
