Sidney Moncrief played guard in the NBA for 11 seasons from 1979-1991, primarily with the Milwaukee Bucks (1979-1990) but also the Atlanta Hawks (1991). He was a five-time NBA All-Star selection from 1982-1985 and was named NBA All-Defensive First Team four times from 1983 - 1986. He was also twice named NBA Defensive Player of the Year in 1983 and 1984. A 2019 inductee into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, Moncrief averaged 15.6 points, 4.7 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game during his career. Moncrief’s jersey #4 was retired by Milwaukee in 1990.

Moncrief was born on September 21, 1957 in Little Rock, Arkansas and went on to play college basketball at the University of Arkansas from 1975 – 1979, where he enjoyed one of the most celebrated careers in Razorbacks history. In 1978, he was named a second-team UPI All-American and in 1979, was a consensus first-team All-American and was honored as the Southwest Conference (SWC) Player of the Year. The school retired his jersey number and, in 2018, Moncrief became a member of the College Basketball Hall of Fame.

After his playing days, Moncrief served as head coach at Arkansas-Little Rock in 1999 – 2000 and for the NBA D-League’s Forth Worth Flyers in 2006 before working with the Golden State Warriors and Bucks as an assistant coach. He also served as a tv analyst for Milwaukee games broadcast on FSN Wisconsin. He has also authored two books, “Moncrief: My Journey to the NBA” and “Your Passport to Becoming a Valuable Team Player: Your Travel Guide for Peak Performance at Work and Home”.
