Guard Joe Dumars played in the NBA from 1985-1999, all with the Detroit Pistons. A 2006 inductee into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, Dumars was a six-time All-Star and averaged 16.1 points per game during his career. He was an integral part of the Pistons’ legendary “Bad Boy” squads that featured the likes of Isiah Thomas, Bill Laimbeer, Dennis Rodman, John Salley and Rick Mahorn and captured back-to-back NBA titles in 1989 and 1990. The Pistons retired his jersey #4 in 2000.

In the 1989 playoffs, Dumars averaged 17.6 points per game and was electric in the NBA Finals versus the Portland Trail Blazers, averaging 27.3 points per game and taking home Finals MVP honors in the process. Renowned for his defense, Dumars was named to the NBA All-Defensive First Team four times (1989, 1990, 1992, 1993). Dumars was also noted for his conduct on the court as he won the NBA Sportsmanship Award in 1996, which has been renamed the Joe Dumars Trophy.

Following his playing days, Dumars became a front office executive for the Pistons in 2000, earning NBA Executive of the Year honors in 2003 and winning another championship in 2004 after the Pistons beat the Los Angeles Lakers behind the efforts of Finals MVP Chauncey Billups. He also served as CEO of Detroit Technologies and founded Joe Dumars Fieldhouse. Born on March 24, 1963 in Shreveport, Louisiana, Dumars played collegiately at McNeese State, where recorded a per game average of 22.5 points and ended his collegiate career ranked as the 11th leading scorer in the history of the NCAA. He became a member of the College Basketball Hall of Fame in 2006.
