Derek Fisher is a former NBA player who played for the Los Angeles Lakers, Golden State Warriors, Utah Jazz, Oklahoma City Thunder and Dallas Mavericks from 1996-2014. Fisher played collegiately for the University of Arkansas-Little Rock from 1992-96, earning Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year honors as a senior. That same year, he was selected in the first round of the NBA Draft by the Lakers, for whom he played for from 1996-2004, earning three straight NBA Championships in the process from 2000-02.

After playing for the Warriors and Jazz from 2004-07, Fisher returned to L.A., playing for the Lakers again from 2007-12 and winning another two NBA titles in 2009 and 2010.
Fisher rounded out his professional career in Oklahoma City and Dallas from 2012-14, finishing with an 8.3 points per game average. He was named head coach of the New York Knicks in June of 2014 but was let go on February 8, 2016. While in the NBA, Fisher was active in the league’s Player’s Union, serving as president from 2006-13. His 259 career playoff games played is an NBA record. The Los Angeles Sparks hired him as head coach in 2018. Fisher was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, on August 9, 1974.
