Curtis Strange is a retired professional golfer who notably won back-to-back U.S. Opens in 1988 and 1989, making him just one of three golfers along with Ben Hogan and Brooks Koepka to successfully defend a U.S. Open title. Strange accrued a total of 17 PGA Tour victories in his career and, as an amateur before turning professional in 1976, he was a member of the U.S. teams that won the Eisenhower Trophy in 1974 and Walker Cup in 1975. He became a member of the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2007 and Virginia Sports Hall of Fame in 2004.

Strange’s first professional victory came at the 1979 Pensacola Opening. In addition to his U.S. Open victory in 1988, he also won three other PGA Tour events in route to being named that year’s PGA Player of the Year. In 1985, 1987 and 1988, Strange was the PGA Tour leading money winner and between 1986-1990, he spent more than 200 weeks ranked in the top 10 of the Official World Golf Rankings. In international play, he was a member of five Ryder Cup teams (1983, 1985, 1987, 1989, 1995) and also served as captain of the team in 2002.

In 1997, Strange was hired by ABC/ESPN to serve as the lead golf analyst for its coverage of the PGA Tour, a position he served through 2004. He returned to ESPN as an analyst in 2008 before later joining Fox. He was born on January 30, 1955 in Norfolk, Virginia and played golf collegiately at Wake Forest, where in 1974 he won an NCAA individual title and helped lead the Demon Deacons to an NCAA team championship.
