Curtis Martin is a Hall of Fame running back who played in the NFL for the New England Patriots (1995-1997) and New York Jets (1998-2006). At the time of his retirement in 2007, Martin was ranked 4th on the NFL’s all-time rushing list, trailing only Hall of Famers Emmitt Smith, Walter Payton and Barry Sanders. In total for his career, he amassed 14,101 yards on the ground with 90 touchdowns rushing.

In his first season with the Patriots in 1995, Martin was named the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year and made the first of five Pro Bowl teams after leading the AFC in rushing yards with 1,487 (along with 14 touchdowns). He was a first-team All-Pro twice and second-team All-Pro in 1999. Martin led the NFL in total rushing yards in 2004. The Jets retired his jersey #28 in 2012 and he became a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame that same year. He also won the 2006 Bart Starr Award and 2001 Ed Black Courage Award.

Martin was born in Pittsburgh, PA, attended Taylor Allderdice High School and played college football at the University of Pittsburgh. He was picked by the Patriots in the 1995 draft in the 3rd round.
