David Thompson Booking Agent Details

David Thompson starred on the basketball court both in college and professionally. One of the most electrifying players of his era known for his dunking ability, Thompson played for the Denver Nuggets from 1975-1982 before finishing his career with the Seattle SuperSonics from 1982-1984. When Thompson first joined the Nuggets, the franchise was a member of the ABA. After a successful first season in 1975-1976 in which Thompson was named Rookie of the Year, Denver joined the NBA where his star continued to shine. Thompson went on to become a two-time NBA First-Team pick and four-time All-Star and was named MVP of the All-Star Game in 1979. On April 9, 1978 against the Detroit Pistons, Thompson scored 73 points, the fourth-most points ever scored in an NBA game. Thompson’s #33 was retired by the Nuggets in 1992. He was named a member of the ABA All-Time Team and was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1996.

Born on July 13, 1954 in Shelby, North Carolina, Thompson played collegiately at North Carolina State, where in 1974 he led the school to a 30-1 mark and NCAA national title in route to being named the Final Four’s Most Outstanding Player. He was three times named the ACC Player of the Year and a consensus first-team All-American and, in 1975, was honored with the Naismith Award as the nation’s top college basketball player. He would become one of just nine basketball players so honored with the Naismith Award to also be inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, joining David Robinson, Michael Jordan, Patrick Ewing, Ralph Sampson, Bill Walton, Larry Bird, Pete Maravich and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. The only player in school history to have his jersey retired, Thompson became a member of the College Basketball Hall of Fame in 2006. After his playing career ended, he was hired by the Charlotte Hornets in 1990 to work in their community relations department.
