Rick Barry Booking Agent Details

Rick Barry played for 10 seasons in the NBA for the San Francisco/Golden State Warriors and the Houston Rockets while playing 4 seasons in the ABA for the Oakland Oaks, Washington Capitols and the New York Nets from 1965 to 1980. Barry is known as one of the all-time scoring greats and was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1987. In 1996, he was named by the NBA as one of the Fifty Greatest Players in NBA History. He was a 12-time All-Star in both leagues combined and secured Rookie of the Year honors in the 1965-66 season. He went on to claim the NBA scoring title the next season, averaging 35.6 points per game. His greatest achievement came when the Warriors were crowned NBA Champions in 1975, sweeping the Washington Bullets 4-0 as Barry was named Finals MVP as he averaged 29.5 points per game and shot 44 percent from the field throughout the series.

Barry was well-known for shooting his free throws underhanded and was incredibly effective at doing so. In seven different seasons, he led either the ABA or NBA in free throw percentage. He went on to shoot 89.3 percent from the charity stripe for his career, ranking seventh all-time for both leagues combined and was the ABA’s all-time leader in the same statistic, shooting 87.9 percent from the free throw line.

Barry, a native of Elizabeth, N.J., is referred to as “the Miami Greyhound” for his collegiate career at the University of Miami. Despite the Hurricanes being unable to play in the postseason during his time due to probation, Barry was still able to make an impact throughout his three years in Coral Gables, as he led them to a composite record of 65-16 and averaged 37.4 points per game his senior year, a school record to this day. Barry also averaged a double-double throughout his college career, scoring 29.8 points per game and bringing down 16.5 rebounds per game. He became a consensus first-team All-American his senior year and was drafted second overall by the San Francisco Warriors in the 1965 NBA Draft.
