A NJ state Democratic Party official says that Olympic gold medalist, Carl Lewis, is planning to run for the New Jersey Senate and will announce his candidacy for the 8th Legislative District Monday.
CNN reports that the 49-year old Lewis has scheduled a 2 p.m. news conference in Mount Holly New Jersey to announce his political plans. (more…)
St. John’s basketball coach, Steve Lavin, said in a statement today that he has prostate cancer. Lavin is 46 years old.
The former UCLA Bruins coach announced Friday that he was diagnosed in September with prostate cancer but was told he could delay treatment until after the season. He plans to undergo treatment soon and says it will not affect his coaching. (more…)

Baseball legend, Yogi Berra, was taken to the hospital Thursday, March 10, after he tripped inside a clubhouse and fell on his backside before a Yankees spring training game. Berra is 85 years old.
The NY Yankees Hall of Famer caught his foot on a carpet at Bright House Field in Florida, according Yankees General Manager Brian Cashman who works as an “instructor” for the Yankees.
Cashman said that Yogi was smiling and joking after the accident and didn’t even want medical attention. Yogi however was taken to a nearby hospital for precautionary reasons.

Congratulations to the Green Bay Packers on their win in Superbowl XLV. This year the Packers were “The Team of Destiny” bringing the Vince Lombardi trophy back home to Green Bay.
