Willie Randolph played second base in the majors from 1975-1992 primarily with the New York Yankees (1976-1988) but also the Pittsburgh Pirates (1975), Los Angeles Dodgers (1989-1990), Oakland Athletics (1990), Milwaukee Brewers (1991) and New York Mets (1992). Later, Randolph worked as a coach with the Yankees (1994-2004), Milwaukee Brewers (2009-2010) and Baltimore Orioles (2011). From 2005-2008, he served as manager of the Mets. Randolph won a total of five World Series championships, all with the Yankees. He won back-to-back titles as a player in 1977 and 1978 and two decades later, captured three straight titles as a coach from 1998-2000.

Randolph made his major league debut on July 29, 1975 for the Pirates before being traded to the Yankees after the season. He went on to become a six-time All-Star and recorded a lifetime batting average of.276 to go along with 2,210 hits and 687 RBI. In 1980, Randolph batted .294, stole 30 bases and led MLB in walks with 119. That year, he placed 15th in A.L. MVP voting and won a Silver Slugger Award. Known for his plate discipline, never in his 18-year career did Randolph finish a season with more strikeouts than walks. In 1987, he earned his fifth All-Star selection, setting career-highs in home runs (7) and RBI (67) while batting .305. His success with the Yankees as both a player and coach earned him a plaque in Monument Park alongside such other Yankees greats as Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Joe DiMaggio, Yogi Berra, Mickey Mantle, Reggie Jackson, Derek Jeter and Goose Gossage. Randolph was born on July 6, 1954 in Holly Hill, South Carolina.
