Bernie Williams is a former MLB outfielder who spent his entire 16-year career with the New York Yankees from 1991-2006. Williams was an integral part of the Yankees’ success in the late 1990s and won four World Series with the team in 1996 and from 1998-2000. For five straight seasons from 1997-2001, he was selected as an All-Star while from 1997-2000, Williams won consecutive Gold Glove awards for his defense.

During his first World Series run in 1996, Williams was named ALCS MVP after a performance that included two home runs with a batting average of .474 against the Baltimore Orioles. In 1998, his batting average of .339 was highest in the American League as Williams became the first player in MLB history to win the World Series, a Gold Glove and Silver Slugger in the same season.

The Yankees retired his jersey #51 in 2015 and he ranks fifth all-time in franchise history with 2,336 hits while his 287 homers ranks sixth. The same year, New York honored Williams with a plaque in their prestigious Monument Park.

Williams was born on September 13, 1968 in San Juan Puerto Rico. He made his Major League Baseball debut for the Yankees on July 7, 1991. A classically trained guitarist, Williams has released a couple of jazz albums and has toured around the world. In 2009, Williams was nominated for a Latin Grammy.
