Joe Maddon was named manager of the Los Angeles Angels in 2019. Prior to that, he spent five seasons from 2015-2019 managing the Chicago Cubs. Maddon has won two World Series, once as a bench coach for the Angels in 2002 and the other as a manager for the Cubs in 2016, breaking a 108-year title drought for the franchise. Before taking the job at the friendly confines in 2015, he managed the Tampa Bay Rays from 2006-2014, where he led them from 66 wins in 2007 to 97 wins and an American League Pennant in 2008. Maddon would go on to have five straight seasons finishing with a winning percentage above .500.

Aside from Maddon’s biggest managerial accomplishment in winning the 2016 World Series, he led the Cubs to four straight postseason berths in his four seasons as their manager. Maddon has won Manager of the Year three times, twice with the Rays in 2008 and 2011 and once with Chicago in 2015.
Maddon, a West Halzelton Pennsylvania native, attended Lafayette College and competed in both baseball and football. As a player, Maddon’s baseball career began with the Angels, where he never advanced higher than Class A. After his brief playing career, he became a minor league manager, scout, minor league hitting instructor and a coach in the Angels organization for 31 years.
