Dennis Eckersley Booking Agent Details

Dennis Eckersley pitched in the majors from 1975-1998 with the Cleveland Indians (1975-1977), Boston Red Sox (1978-1984, 1998), Chicago Cubs (1984-1986), Oakland Athletics (1987-1995) and St. Louis Cardinals (1996-1998). Eckersley began his career as a starter and finished as a closer and was the first pitcher to record during his career both 20 wins in a season and 50 saves in a season (John Smoltz later achieved the feat). He is also the only pitcher ever to notch 100 complete games and 100 saves. Eckersley finished his career by amassing 197 wins with an ERA of 3.50 along with 2,401 strikeouts and 390 saves. He was six times named an All-Star and became a member of the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2004. Oakland retired his jersey #43 and he is a member of the Red Sox Hall of Fame and MLB’s All-Century Team.

Beginning his career as a starting pitcher, Eckersley went 20-8 with a 2.99 ERA in 1978 with Boston, placing fourth in A.L. Cy Young voting. He posted a 2.99 ERA once more the next season in 1979, again earning A.L. Cy Young votes. Eckersley enjoyed a resurgence late in his career as a closing pitcher. In 1988 with Oakland, he led MLB with 45 saves and placed second in A.L. Cy Young voting and fifth in A.L. MVP voting. That postseason, he earned ALCS MVP honors and, in 1989, helped Oakland to a World Series championship. In 1992, Eckersley went 7-1 with an ERA of 1.91, winning both A.L. Cy Young and MVP accolades. After his playing career, Eckersley worked as a baseball analyst for Turner Sports’ coverage of Major League Baseball and Red Sox games broadcast on New England Sports Network (NESN).
