One of golf’s most colorful personalities, David Feherty served as the host of the popular Golf Channel series “Feherty” for 10 years from 2011- 2020. In the series, Feherty interviewed engaging personalities from the world of sports, entertainment and politics. From President Bill Clinton to Jack Nicklaus to Charles Barkley, Feherty gave viewers an entertaining look inside the lives of his guests’ as only Feherty could. He currently works as an on-course analyst for NBC Sports’ coverage of the PGA Tour and previously worked in a similar capacity for CBS Sports from 1997-2015. He has also penned a column for Golf Magazine and is a New York Times best-selling author, having written four books, including “A Nasty Bit of Rough”, “Somewhere in Ireland a Village is Missing an Idiot”, “David Feherty’s Totally Subjective History of the Ryder Cup” and “An Idiot for All Seasons.”
Prior to his broadcast career, Feherty was a successful golfer, winning 10 tournaments around the world and more than $3 million in prize earnings after turning pro in 1976. Although he did compete on the PGA Tour, Feherty spent the majority of his career playing on the European Tour. His wins included the Italian Open, ICL International, South Africa PGA, Scottish Open, Cannes Open, Madrid Open and BMW Open. He also served as captain for the Irish team that won the Alfred Dunhill Cup in 1990 and was a member of the 1991 European Ryder Cup team. Away from golf, Feherty has been a staunch supporter of injured U.S. military personnel and founded the Troops First Foundation, which hosts various events and other initiatives to support those wounded in action. In 2012, Feherty was the recipient of the Outstanding Civilian Service Award given by the Department of the Army. Feherty was born on August 13, 1958 in Bangor County Down in Northern Ireland.
