Ben Crenshaw is a retired professional golfer who recorded 19 victories on the PGA Tour, including two Masters in 1984 and 1995. He also finished runner-up twice at The Open Championship and once at the PGA Championship. He is one of just a few golfers in history to claim victory in the first event of his career on the PGA Tour. Crenshaw was ranked in the top 10 for 80 weeks in the Official World Golf Ranking from 1987-1989. He represented the United States on four Ryder Cup teams in 1981, 1983, 1987 and 1995 and was captain in 1999.

Nicknamed “Gentle Ben”, Crenshaw is considered one of the greatest putters of all-time and has received numerous honors over his career, including the USGA’s Bob Jones Award (1991), Old Tom Morris Award (1997) and Payne Stewart Award (2001). He was three times named the recipient of the Haskins Award and was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2002. Crenshaw was born on January 11, 1952 in Austin, Texas. He attended college at the University of Texas, where he was a three-time NCAA Champion from 1971-1973. After retiring from playing, Crenshaw began a successful career as a golf course designer.
