Paul Azinger won 12 golf tournaments while competing on the PGA Tour beginning in 1981, including the 1993 PGA Championship and 1992 Tour Championship. After a breakout year in 1987 which saw him named the PGA Tour Player of the Year after winning his first tournament (Phoenix Open) along with two others (Las Vegas Invitational and Greater Hartford Open), Azinger was ranked by the Official World Golf Ranking from 1988-1994 as one of the top 10 players in the world for just under 300 weeks. In 2000, Azinger won the Sony Open in Hawaii, his first victory since the 1993 PGA Championship and also the first since being diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma that same year. For his efforts, he received PGA Tour Comeback Player of the Year and honors along with the PGA Tour Courage Award. In 2010, Azinger made his debut on the Champions Tour.

In international competition, Azinger was a member of four Ryder Cup teams, including the United States-winning teams in 1991 and 1993, and captained the 2008 team to victory that featured the likes of Phil Mickelson, Jim Furyk and Justin Leonard. Azinger was widely praised for his strategy, which he discussed in his 2010 book “Cracking the Code: The Winning Ryder Cup Strategy: Make it Work for You”. Azinger also authored a book titled “Zinger” about his cancer battle. Off the course, Azinger has enjoyed a successful broadcast career. He worked for ESPN/ABC from 2005-2015 as the lead golf analyst alongside fellow golfer Nick Faldo and Mike Tirico. He later worked for Fox Sports in 2016 before joining NBC Sports to replace its longtime analyst Johnny Miller. Azinger is also an avid poker player and participated in the 2006 and 2008 World Series of Poker.
