Craig Stadler, nicknamed “The Walrus”, is a former professional golfer who competed from 1976-2014 on the PGA Tour and later the Champions Tour. In total, Stadler won 13 times on the PGA Tour, twice on the European Tour, once on the Japan Golf Tour and nine times on the Champions Tour. He is best remembered for winning the 1982 Masters in a playoff over Dan Pohl.

After turning pro in 1976, Stadler’s first professional wins came in 1980 when he won that year’s Bob Hope Desert Classic and Greater Greensboro Open. His most successful year on the PGA Tour came in 1982 when he was the leading money winner after winning four times - the Masters, Joe Garagiola-Tucson Open, Kemper Open and World Series of Golf.

Stadler was born on June 2, 1953 in San Diego, California and started playing golf at four years old. He attended college at the University of Southern California (USC), where he was a four-time All-American and won the 1973 U.S. Amateur. His son Kevin is also a professional golfer and won one event on the PGA Tour, the 2014 Waste Management Phoenix Open. Off the course, Stadler appeared as himself in the 1996 movie “Tin Cup”.
