Gene Stallings Named Keynote Speaker at Benefit Dinner

Former football coach, Gene Stallings, has been named keynote speaker at a benefit dinner for the Lindale ISD Education Foundation, A Legendary Kickoff: An Evening to Support Excellence. The event takes place on Thursday, September 12, 2013, at 6:30 p.m. at Villa Di Felicita located at 7891 Highway 110 North in Tyler, Texas.

The event will also include a live auction and a dance. Live auction items that were donated are a Nolan Ryan autographed baseball and Texas Rangers fan package, a home visit from Santa Claus, the opportunity to be “Lindale ISD Superintendent for A Day”, a collection of gift cards sold as “Christmas in A Box”, a district-wide All Sports Pass, and an original design pearl necklace. Stallings played college football at Texas A&M University from 1954 to 1956 under head coach Paul “Bear” Bryant, where he was one of the “Junction Boys.” He later served as the head coach at his alma mater from 1965 to 1971. Stallings was also the head coach of the St. Louis/Phoenix Cardinals of the NFL from 1986 to 1989 and at the University of Alabama from 1990 to 1996. Stallings’ 1992 Alabama team completed a 13–0 season with a win in the Sugar Bowl over Miami and was named the consensus national champion. Stallings was also a member of the Board of Regents of the Texas A&M University System. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame as a coach in 2010.
