Football Great Vinny Testaverde To Be Inducted into 2013 College Football Hall of Fame

Former University of Miami quarterback, Vinny Testaverde, is one of three Heisman Trophy winners to be inducted into the 2013 College Football Hall of Fame. Testaverde, who won the Heisman Trophy in 1986, is joined by Florida’s Danny Wuerffel (1996) and Wisconsin’s Ron Dayne (1999). The induction ceremony will take place on Dec. 10 in New York City.

Along with Testaverde, the list of this years inductees also include Ohio State offensive tackle Orlando Pace, Arizona defensive end Tedy Bruschi, NC State tailback Ted Brown, Texas defensive back Jerry Gray, Kentucky end Steve Meilinger, the late Oklahoma linebacker Rod Shoate, Michigan State linebacker Percy Snow, Baylor quarterback Don Trull and two coaches: Colorado coach Bill McCartney and Wayne Hardin, who coached 19 seasons at Navy from 1959 to 1964 and Temple from 1970 to 1982.

Testaverde became the first Miami quarterback to win the Heisman Trophy leading the Hurricanes to an undefeated season in 1986. He still remains Miami’s all-time leader with 46 passing touchdowns. Testaverde was drafted in 1987 by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers where he played from 1987 to 1992. His NFL career spanned twenty one years playing in two Pro Bowls in 1996 with the Baltimore Ravens and 1998 with the New York Jets. Testaverde holds the NFL record for having thrown a touchdown pass in 21 consecutive seasons. In addition, he holds the NFL record for throwing touchdown passes to 70 different players.
