Troy Aikman spent his entire 12-year career from 1988-2000 playing for the Dallas Cowboys. After being picked by Dallas with the first pick overall in the 1989 NFL Draft., he became the first Cowboys rookie quarterback to open the season as the starter since Roger Staubach did so in 1969. Aikman went on to become the longest-tenured qb in team history and led the team to six NFC East division titles and three Super Bowl wins (XXVII, XXVIII and XXX). His performance in Super Bowl XXVII against the Buffalo Bills earned him MVP honors after he went 22-30 for 273 yards passing along with four scores. Along with future Hall of Fame teammates Emmitt Smith and Michael Irvin, Aikman helped make the Cowboys the most dominant team of the 1990s and their offense one of the most potent in NFL history. The six-time Pro Bowler finished his career with over 40 Dallas franchise records, including 32,942 yards passing and 165 touchdowns. He was inducted into the Cowboys Ring of Honor in 2005 and the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2006.

Born on November 21, 1966 in West Covina, California, Aikman began his college career at the University of Oklahoma before transferring to UCLA, where he played two seasons. He was named the Pac-10 Offensive Player of the Year his junior year and was a consensus All-American and the recipient of the Davey O’Brien Award as the nation’s top quarterback his senior year. Also that season, Aikman finished third in the Heisman Trophy race. He became a member of the College Football Hall of Fame in 2008 and UCLA retired his jersey #8 in 2014. After retiring from playing, Aikman embarked on a successful broadcast career as a football analyst and has received several Emmy Award nominations. He was hired by Fox Sports in 2001 and currently works alongside Joe Buck in making up the network’s lead NFL broadcast team. Away from football, Aikman co-owned a NASCAR racing team and had a minority stake in the San Diego Padres. A popular pitchman, Aikman has served as a spokesperson for numerous companies including Rent-a-Center, IDLife, Wing Stop, Acme and Campbell’s Chunky Soup.
