He also played for the Washington Bullets (1987-1988), Golden State Warriors (1997-1999) and Toronto Raptors (1999-2001). At 5’3”, Bogues is the shortest player to ever compete in the NBA but his size didn’t affect his play as he retired as Charlotte’s all-time leader in numerous categories, including assists, steals and minutes played. In total for his career, Bogues averaged 7.7 points and 7.6 assists per game.

Born on January 9, 1965 in Baltimore, Maryland, Bogues played college basketball at Wake Forest, where he was named first-team All-ACC his senior season after averaging 14.8 points, 3.8 rebounds and 9.5 assists per contest. He finished his college career as the Atlantic Coast Conference’s all-time leader in assists and steals. In 1986, Bogues won a gold medal playing for the United States Men’s National Team at the FIBA World Championships. After playing briefly for the UBSL’s Rhode Island Gulls in 1987, Bogues was picked by Washington in the 1st round of the 1987 NBA Draft.

At the conclusion of his playing career, Bogues worked in real estate and served as a head coach for the WNBA’s Charlotte Sting and United Faith Christian Academy, a high school located in Charlotte. In 2014, he was hired by the Hornets as a team ambassador. As a result of his popularity, Bogues also made numerous television and movie appearances, including "Space Jam", "Curb Your Enthusiasm" and "Saturday Night Live".
