Lee Mazzilli is a former MLB player whose career lasted from 1976-1989. Mazzilli played the majority of his career with the New York Mets (1976-1981, 1986-1989) but also the Texas Rangers/New York Yankees (1982), Pittsburgh Pirates (1983-1986) and Toronto Blue Jays (1989).

In 1978, his second full season with the Mets, Mazzilli hit .273 with 16 homers and 61 RBI. The 1979 season saw him named to the All-Star team, where he hit an eighth inning home run and also an important ninth-inning walk with the bases loaded to help the National League to a 7-6 victory. That season, he led the Mets in RBI (79) and hits (181). In 1980, Mazzilli led the team in numerous offensive statistical categories, including hits (162), home runs (16), RBI (76) and doubles (31).

Mazzilli in 1986 won a World Series ring with the Mets before his playing days came to an end in 1989. From 2004-2005, Mazzilli served as manager of the Baltimore Orioles. Mazzilli won a second World Series ring with the Yankees in 2000 as he served as the team’s first base coach from 2000-2003 and later bench coach in 2006. Off the field, Mazzilli appeared in the off-Broadway play “Tony n’ Tina’s Wedding” and worked as a studio baseball analyst for SportsNet New York.
