Jim Craig helped the U.S. men’s Olympic hockey team to one of the biggest upsets and iconic moments in Olympic history at the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, NY in what became known as the “Miracle on Ice”. Serving as the team’s goalie, Craig stopped 36 of 39 shots against the heavily favored Russians in route in winning the semifinal matchup, 4-3. Anchored by Craig’s play and assisted by such teammates as Mike Eruzione, Ken Morrow and Neal Broten, the U.S. advanced to the finals and beat Finland to capture the gold medal. In 2004, Disney released the movie “Miracle” which told the story of the 1980 team and their improbable win. After the Olympics, Craig spent time in the NHL playing for the Atlanta Flames, Boston Bruins and Minnesota North Stars. In 1999, he became a member of the International Hockey Hall of Fame.

Once his playing career ended, Craig embarked on a successful business career and created Gold Medal Strategies, a sales training and motivational speaking company. A highly sought-after speaker, Craig has spoken to over 500 companies, including Coors, Walt Disney, John Hancock, Fidelity, Coca-Cola, KPMG, Ocean Spray, Sun Life Financial and NBC. He also authored a book titled “Gold Medal Strategies: Business Lessons from America’s Miracle Team”, which details the techniques and skills needed to run a successful business. Born on May 31, 1957 in Easton, Massachusetts, Craig attended Massasoit Community College for one year before transferring to Boston University, where he helped the Terriers to a 1978 NCAA championship. In 1989, he was inducted into the school’s Hall of Fame.
