Bernie Federko is a Hall of Fame center who played in the National Hockey league for 14 years for the St. Louis Blues (1976-1989) and Detroit Red Wings (1989-1990). At the time of his retirement, Federko held numerous Blues records, including the most games played and most assists and points in a career. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2002 and the Blues retired his jersey #24 in 1991.

Federko grew up in Foam Lake, Saskatchewan and began playing hockey in his youth before spending three seasons with the WHL’s Saskatoon Blades. In 1976, Federko was picked by the Blues in the first round of the NHL Draft with the 7th overall pick. He began the next season playing for the Central Hockey League’s Kansas City Blues before being called-up to St. Louis in the middle of the season, where he scored three hat tricks in 31 games. He was the first person in NHL history to tally 50 assists in 10 straight seasons. Federko became the 22nd player in league history to score 1000 points in a career when he accomplished the feat on March 9, 1988. After his playing career ended, Federko spent time working for Fox Sports Midwest as a tv analyst for Blues games.
